On Tuesday, April 4, 2017, the Fellows hosted their seventh Urban Futures Lab Supper Club with special guests DMA, President of Planet DMA, and McCrae A. Parker, Technology and Social Equity Strategist at McP & Associates Consulting. This dinner was a culmination of Module 4, Critical Inquiry and Representation.
Over delicious Thai quinoa salad and cauliflower garbanzo curry, DMA and McCrae shared their advice on being bold and fearless in their professional lives. Fellows took note of the importance of critical inquiry – asking great questions.
As the Fellows pitched the social media campaigns they had worked on throughout this module to the table, the Supper Club’s guests encouraged the Fellows to invert their thinking, to consider their end-users and the ultimate change they sought from their social media efforts. Conversation flowed. Questions that dissected and strengthened each campaign were made by all.
Heading into dessert, DMA and McCrae reflected on their careers over mangoñadas, sharing challenges and accomplishments with honesty. Their stories inspired the Fellows to move closer to their aspirations for meaningful work in their lives.
