Photo Recap – GELA Open House @ USC Price, April 23, 2019

April 23, 2019 – At the first Open House of Spring 2019, the students from the East Los Angeles Renaissance Academy at Esteban E. Torres High School showcased their work for Greetings from East LA at the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. USC students, faculty and administrators learned about traffic safety and street conditions along five East LA corridors, discussed the students’ recommendations, and added their own notes to the maps of proposed enhancements. Attendees were also able to pick up student zines for each corridor.

John Sonego, Associate Dean of External Affairs, and Professor David Sloane made remarks alongside two Renaissance students. It was a wonderful and sunny event to celebrate the fourth year of the project.

Many thanks to event host and project partner USC Price. Special shout outs also go out to our project partners: Renaissance Teacher, Ms. Tenorio, and Principal, Mr. Buchman; USC Interns Christine Vazquez, LeAnn Kelch, and Richard Aviles; and LA County Public Works.
